Computational Thinking

Sharing

Sharing is a basic human need. It is the speed of communication has changed, the audience has expanded to a global audience. I can see how this links to the create and share part of the Manaikalani pedagogy.

Computational Thinking

The sorting parallel algorithm was a neat practical activity to do with children. Am thinking of using this in class, getting the students to chose a number between 1 and one hundred. Yellow go left, green go right at each level. Getting the children to write the number down would avoid changes at the end.

Loved the discussions raised by Trailblazers.

The Binary Coding is another class activity that would be fun for the students to try.

I found the Toxic Code easier than the Scratch. Although I now have a basic knowledge of Scratch so I can interact with the students on this.

  1. Thanks for sharing your thoughts about this week's DFI, that certainly left us filled with so much information. It is so reassuring to hear that we have shared since time began and how far and quickly we can now share in a digital world. Kawana certainly showed us some wonderful inexpensive ways we can incorporate IT in the classroom. It's great to hear that you left with ideas of how you could incorporate these tasks in your classroom.
