And So it Begins!

What a great bunch to go on this journey with

THE JOURNEY BEGINS

I understand why this is called Digital Fluency Intensive 😅Having an understanding of the background to Manaiakalani has opened my eyes... I have always thought of the technology as replacing the stationary, as in books. It makes more sense that it replaces the pencil! Knowing the Manaiakalani Journey has made me realise that my foray into digital learning is a journey and will open up a world of new possibilities as I travel, both personally and professionally.

Being able to work more fluently in Docs will give me more options as I generally work with slides. I like the option of being able to use text types will save a lot of time selecting, highlighting, make bold and changing fonts.

I can see heaps of applications with being able to select part of a website under headings that means leaners will not be bombarded with irrelevant or an overpowering amount of text. I can see a use of voice typing and the Read Write functions to equalise access and get a true picture of what my learners know without the typing barrier influencing the quality of their ability to absorb and share what they have learnt.

Being able to access a document changes will allow me to see the changes of a document and therefore better gauge a students spelling ability without it sanitised with spell check and other grammar tools.

Building digital fluency will help me work smarter not harder. Being able to complete tasks with increasing ease will enable me to better manage the intrusion of work into my personal life.

Thanks Nicole and Gerhard

  1. Thanks for your enthusiastic post Kristine. It is so amazing to learn where this amazing pedagogy put down it's roots and to see just how far it has travelled to include our little community. Learning about the tools available to us is such a bonus to managing our workloads and also ensuring we don't overload our students. I look forward to seeing where you do on this amazing journey Kristine.
